ABOUT ABOUT

We discard of a lot of things. We throw away old clothes, packaging materials, and paper cups so that they don't clutter our lives. We discard people too. Today, we have islands of trash in the oceans and cities of people in prisons.

Undiscarded explores the land of the discarded and the discarding. In a world where discarding is intertwined with identity, we face the things and people that we discard, and confront the desires that urge us to throw them away. What do we risk by by listening to those we discard? What do we gain?

Told through articles and statistics about environmental advocacy, prison reform, and homelessness advocacy, Undiscarded weaves together music, dance, and text with stories from those who have personal connections to the issues. With the research of our ensemble, the compassion of our audience, and the stories of those we ignore, we honor voices that go unheard. Together, we will undiscard for an evening.
